Five hundred games! That’s a ton of content for the little Wii that could. So, what does Nintendo offer up for this milestone? Well, Super Smash Bros. (N64 – 1,000 Wii Points) for starters and Ninja Gaiden (NES – 600 Wii Points) for dessert. Another title of note is Dragon’s Lair (Nintendo DSi – 800 DSi Points). Not a bad start at all. Of course, there’s plenty more that has made its way to Wii Shopping Channels everywhere and you need only to make the jump to see it all.

It’s a busy day for the Nintendo Download! Wii owners have the opportunity to try out five games via WiiWare before making the decision to buy or reject them. The demos one can choose from are: BIT.TRIP BEAT, FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES: My Life as a Darklord, NyxQuest: Kindred Spirits, World of Goo and Pokémon Rumble.
It should be noted that Pokémon Rumble (WiiWare – 1,500 WiiPoints) is a new entry to the Pokémon series. Moving on, the Virtual Console gets in on the action with Indiana Jones’ Greatest Adventures (SNES – 800 WiiPoints) and Street Fighter II: Champion Edition (TurboGrafx16 – 700 WiiPoints). As for the DSi, Art Style: DIGIDRIVE (500 DSi Points), Arcade Bowling (200 DSi Points) and Robot Rescue (200 DSi Points) are now ready for your downloading pleasure.
There’s plenty to choose from, today. Personally, I’m going after the demos on WiiWare. There are definitely a couple things I would like try. Click on through for more information on the titles above and a pair of Pokémon Rumble screenshots.

To all of you that can’t get enough Final Fantasy (of which, I’m sure, there are many), fear not! This week’s Nintendo Download has you covered. For a cool 500 Wii Points you can play the very fist game of the dominating series and revisit the Kingdom of Coneria in all it’s 8-bit glory. On the DSiWare side of things comes Thorium Wars, which looks strangely like Starfox 64 (dare I make the comparison? Ok, I take it back). Thorium Wars flies in at 1,000 DSi Points. Oh, and there’s a word search game for WiiWare. Didn’t I do that in grade school?
Check out the press release after the jump.

It’s been while since I’ve posted the weekly Nintendo Download, but that’s what happens when you move to another apartment and work gets busy. We’ll try to stay on top of these things from here on out. Having said that, there’s plenty to play with on the Wii/DSi this week.
The first thing that grabs my attention is Super Return of the Jedi (SNES – 800 Wii Points) on the Virtual Console. I have awesome memories of the Star Wars series on the SNES and this one sticks out in my mind the most. Escaping an exploding Death Star was simply exhilarating with the fabulous Mode 7 capabilities of the Super Nintendo. If you want more Star Wars action, Super Star Wars and Super Empire Strikes Back were released in the previous two weeks. Check them out for a difficult albeit enjoyable gaming experience.
WiiWare has a special treat from Konami this morning called Contra Rebirth (1,000 Wii Points). The remake promises the same tough but kick-ass gameplay that Contra fans fondly remember. The other title on WiiWare, today, Exkee (700 Wii Points), will have you running about the galaxy in an attempt to rid planets of their viral infections. To do this, you will have to absorb like-colored viruses in what sounds similar to a galactic Dr. Mario. I suppose I would need to see it to fully understand.
Rounding out this week’s Nintendo Download is Clubhouse Games Express: Family Favorites (500 Nintendo DSi Points). This is a small collection of 5 games consisting of Hearts, Contract Bridge, Ludo, Dominoes and Dots and Boxes. You can play by yourself or with up to as many as 7 people.
That wraps up this week’s Nintendo Download. For more information, make the jump and have a great Labor Day!

Those with a taste for the ‘Golden Age’ of RPGs may be excited to see that, as expected, Final Fantasy IV: The After Years (800 Wii Points) has finally made its way to WiiWare from Japanese cell phones for all to play. I’ve been waiting for this sequel for quite some time now and look forward to seeing what befalls the heroes of this world (both old and new) 20 years after the defeat of Zeromus. Final Fantasy IV: TAY will arrive in 8 episodes. This download is the first of eight and I can only hope that this follow-up to what many consider as one of the best RPGs of all time lives even halfway up to what Final Fantasy IV was. Of course, don’t let my obvious infatuation with this headlining title take away from the other titles that came out this morning.
Truly old school gamers will appreciate the release of Boulder Dash (Commodore 64, 500 Wii Points) on the Virtual Console. DSi owners will get to check out Mighty Flip Champs (800 DSi Points) where you can flip the maze you’re in to find your way to safety…or doom!!! The other WiiWare title of the week is Texas Hold’em Tournament (500 Wii Points) for all the poker fans out there.
That wraps things up for this week! Let’s hope to see some great things from Nintendo as E3 gets under way. As always, the full details for this week’s titles are after the jump.

This is the last Nintendo Download for the month of May and it doesn’t really go out with a whole lot of fanfare. Unless, of course, you’re a fan of Clay Fighter for the Sega Genesis (800 Wii Points). Fighters aren’t my thing, much less titles that just never really impressed me to begin with, but I’m sure somebody out there is thrilled. Personally, I think I would choose BUBBLE BOBBLE Plus! (600 Wii Points) or ADVENTURE ISLAND The Beginning (800 Wii Points) on WiiWare if I were to get anything this week. I loved the ADVENTURE ISLAND games from years past and this entry certainly might be worth a look.
Other than that, there’s not much more out there this time around. There are two more titles for the DSi this week and the details for those are after the jump.

Another week, another Nintendo Download. This one, however, is special. The 300th Virtual Console game to be released on the Wii is The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask (Nintendo 64, 1,000 Wii Points). It’s a game that I still haven’t finished due to it’s unusual ability to blow my mind. Of course, I was much younger when it came out and I think I would probably handle it a lot better now that I’m a more seasoned gamer. I still have it for the Nintendo 64 and on those two Zelda compilations for the GameCube. Perhaps I’ll give it another shot before retiring it forever. As usual, there are more titles vying for your money after the jump.

This week’s Nintendo Download is coming down the GPB pipe a little late, but it’s better late than never. The DSi starts things off with Real Soccer 2009 (800 Nintendo DSi Points) that makes use of the handheld’s camera for custom designs on your soccer balls, team flags or even setting your face on a custom player.
On WiiWare, Family Pirate Party (500 WiiPoints) brings board-game style gameplay with an obvious pirate twist. With a roll of the dice, you ‘sail the high seas’ and collect gold as you move along. The pirate with the most gold wins, of course. I cannot help but wonder if it might be somewhat similar to Mario Party? If it is, I would kind of like to give it shot, but there doesn’t seem to be any word on mini-games.
Galaxy Force II (Sega Genesis, 800 Wii Points) rounds things out with some hot arcade-shooter action. I’ve never played this game before, but I am moste definitely a fan of arcade-style shooters…even if I wind up dying most of the time. If you’ve ever played the game, feel free to leave a comment or two. As usual, you can read the full press release after the jump. Happy gaming!

It’s our first Weekly Nintendo Download. As you no doubt may realize, this will be a weekly occurrence letting you know what is know available for download on the Nintendo Wii and DSi. Starting things off is the Animal Crossing Calculator on the DSi (200 Points) which allows you to perform conversions of measurements and mathematical equations. The calculator will also make the series’ famous Animalese noises as you do your work. How cute. For the rest, make the jump.
